Why Showing Longhorn at the PDC Isn’t Too Early

Robert lays out why it’s important that MS show off our current Longhorn thinking ASAP: so that we can incorporate as much of your feedback as humanly possible. Unfortunately, Robert frames his post in terms of hatred for MS, which is a bit more negative then necessary, I think. Still, given his current status as the I-hate-MS-lightning-rod, I'm not surprised that he covers his head on his way outdoors... : )

Windows Source Code for Eligible MVPs

Whoa: "Microsoft Corp. today announced the latest addition to its Shared Source Initiative source licensing program, the Most Valuable Professional Source Licensing Program (MVPSLP). The program recognizes individuals with expertise in one or more Microsoft® products and technologies for their active participation and efforts to help other Microsoft customers. The Cow Puncher Punchline

I did remember the rest of the cow branding story from last night's Portland Nerd Dinner: -I'm embarrassed to admit that it was I who paid the cowboy $2 to eat the newly harvested cow testicle -A few months later, Cal sent me a copy of the Klamath Falls Herald and News featuring a visit from "Visiting Windows Expert Chris Sells" (or some such) shaking Cal's hand. I don't think it was the cow testicle incident that got me in the paper, but I try not too think about it too much BTW, if you're on the fence about the Portland Nerd Dinners and you have trouble with conversations involving cow testicles, mafia hits or how to defraud the phone company, you might want to stay home for the next one...

ASP Alliance reviews WinForms Programming in C#

I don't know why an ASP site is reviewing a WinForms book, but they do a thorough job and, of course, I like their conclusion: "If you are looking for a Windows Forms book, don’t let this one slip out of your hands. The book has such insight and experience included that every reader, beginner and professional, will get benefit from reading it."

Every Vain Author’s Best Friend

Rory built me an RSS feed to track book reviews on Amazon.com. And then he thanked me for letting him do it. You're welcome, Rory... BTW, to complete your Vain Author's Toolkit, you'll need junglescan.com to track a portfolio of books' sales rank. If those ain't web services, I don't know what are!
