Spirit of the ATL DevCon

The goal of the ATL DevCon is to cut away all the unessential conference baggage and concentrate on why we're spending time at a conference in the first place -- the talks. By doing so, we can keep the price, and your wasted time, to a minimum. In fact, if you don't go away with your head hurting from all the new ideas you've heard, we've haven't done our job!

Something else that makes the ATL DevCon special is its group nature. As far as I know, it's the world's first attendee-shaped conference. Its the folks on the mailing list who will decide what they want at their conference. I just send some email and see what I can get accomplished. It makes me smile just thinking about it. : )

Spending

The corporation to whom you're sending your money is wholly owned by me, Chris Sells. Sorry about the mysterious name (it's an abbreviation). The company was formed for another purpose beyond just the ATL DevCon and I'm too shy to share the full name just yet. For now, the corporation is a place for folks to send their money so that I can write checks to cover the conference expenses, e.g. hotel conference room, food, equipment rental, etc. Once we cover those expenses, surplus money will be paid to the folks that so far are volunteering their time, like the speakers and Cate Perko, the DevelopMentor Portland office manager. If there's any money left after that, I'll try to do something responsible with it that benefits the community at large, i.e. no personal masseuse. J

Subject to Change

All of the material on this web site is subject to change. In fact, it's feedback from you, the ATL community, that brings about that change. If you've got something to say, say it soon or have it held over until  the (hopefully) 2nd annual ATL DevCon.

Simon

Simon Robinson and Richard Anderson host a similar event across the pond in the UK called COMFest. The first one had talks by Dr. Richard Grimes and Martin Gudgin (of DevelopMentor). Check out the  web site here for more details.
